At just 19, Kabak is almost certainly one for the future - but the Hammers are said to be facing stiff competition from a string of German clubs for a player whose contract reported to contain a minimum release clause of £13.2million.
Contacted to Stuttgart until 2024, Kabak was born in Ankara and first emerged through the Academy ranks at Galatasary - where he made his professional debut in May 2018 - before sealing a move to Germany in January of this year.
A former Turkish Under 17 captain, centre-back Kabak has represented his country at all levels from Under 15 to Under 18. He has also been linked with fellow Premier League clubs such as Arsenal and Manchester United.
* Unsubstantiated rumours from Spain suggest that West Ham have reached agreement with Villareal over the transfer of attacking midfielder Pablo Fornals.
According to reports from the mainland, West Ham have agreed to pay €27million for the 23-year-old - six months after having an initial approach rejected, at a time when El Submarino Amarillo were holding out for €33million.
Villareal, who finished 14th in La Liga last season are said to be undertaking a huge cost-cuttiung exercise having failed to qualify for Europe.
* West Ham's pursuit of Turkish full back Hasan Ali is close to reaching a conclusion, according to reports.
The 29-year-old Fenerbahce captain will cost the Hammers €5m euros and is set for talks with representatives of the club later this week, according to Turkish outlet Fanatik.
His arrival would allow Arthur Masuaku to feature in a more attacking role, where he is considered by many to be better suited, and provide a challenge for Aaron Cresswell as first choice left back.
