2011/12 Match Notes & Ratings

2-4 v Reading (h) 31st March 2012
by Gordon Thrower

Given a hard time by Foy who offered little protection from Robertsí elbows. If his first touch had been better his leg wouldnít have been out there for Hunt to fall over.

1-1 v Leeds United (a) 17th March 2012
by James May

Solid as a rock. Won everything in the air and the Leeds frontmen couldnít find a way past him. MOTM.

1-1 v Doncaster Rovers (h) 10th March 2012
by Gordon Thrower

By and large he had an ok game but he really should have done a bit more to close down Diouf for their goal.

1-1 v Doncaster Rovers (h) 10th March 2012
by Daniel Prescott

Solid enough, but yet again the defence leaked an unnecessary goal.

1-1 v Watford (h) 7th March 2012
by Daniel Prescott

Coped ably with what little Watford threw in his direction; some suggestion that it was his unfortunate deflection that led to the Hornets goal.

2-0 v Cardiff City (a) 4th March 2012
by Gordon Thrower

Outstanding. If he missed anything I can't remember it. Superb.

0-0 v Crystal Palace (h) 25th February 2012
by Gordon Thrower

Had to deal with our opponents almost single handed in the middle until Reid turned up. Some fine defending, though Iíll admit to having slight panic attacks when he elects to play the ball out of a tricky spot rather than lamping it one.

4-1 v Blackpool (a) 22nd February 2012
by James May

Another sound defensive display before going off injured midway into the second half. Hopefully the injury isnít bad as he and Reid our building a good understanding at the back.

1-1 v Southampton (h) 14th February 2012
by James May

Very good, especially after being on a booking for the entire second half. Loses nothing in the air and a leader at the back.

2-1 v Millwall (h) 4th February 2012
by Gordon Thrower

Immense throughout barring the one mistake that led to the Millwall equaliser. Won everything in the air and would have been my MOTM but for the error. Good to see heís a more than able replacement for Reid and Tomkins.

2-1 v Millwall (h) 4th February 2012

Immense throughout barring the one mistake that led to the Millwall equaliser. Won everything in the air and would have been my MOTM but for the error. Good to see heís a more than able replacement for Reid and Tomkins.

1-0 v Portsmouth (a) 14th January 2012
by Gordon Thrower

Did not play.

1-2 v Burnley (h) 3rd December 2011
by East Stand Martin

Put in some really important challenges and made some vital tackles. But was he at fault for either goal?

3-1 v Derby County (h) 26th November 2011
by Gordon Thrower

An unheralded player he was nevertheless quite superb today. Won the ball, controlled it, laid it off.

2-1 v Coventry City (a) 19th November 2011
by Gordon Thrower

A good game despite the usually illegal attentions of Jukiewicz.

2-0 v Hull City (a) 5th November 2011
by Gordon Thrower

Superb. Powerful in the air and got in a number of vital blocks. Just shaded for my MOTM by Green but it was damned close.

2-2 v Crystal Palace (a) 1st October 2011
by Gordon Thrower

Generally solid though at both goals he was guilty of not getting close enough to his man.

0-1 v Ipswich Town (h) 27th September 2011
by Gordon Thrower

Ok defensively but we need better distribution from him.

1-0 v Peterborough (h) 24th September 2011
by Staff Writer

A most promising full home debut. The veteran centre-half barely put a foot wrong and kept it simple throughout. Will be challenging Tomkins and Reid for a starting berth at this rate.

4-1 v Nottingham Forest (a) 28th August 2011
by Staff Writer

(Replaced Collison, 75) Introduced when the score was 3-1 to protect the lead, he was solid as a rock.

4-0 v Watford (a) 16th August 2011
by Brian Evans

(Replaced Tomkins, 68 mins) Looked solid, if not a little heavy. Runs and stands as though his knees are going to shatter at any minute. I was half tempted to give him a 10, just for that one tackle alone!
