Was solid in defence and enjoyed a lot of time on the ball making some good long passes.

2-0 v Huddersfield Town (h) 11th September 2017

Fairly weak in defence being beaten constantly out wide in his three-at-the-back role having to rely too much on his defensive partners.

Offered a lot going forward and was solid at the back. Good all round performance from the Portuguese international.

0-4 v Liverpool (h) 14th May 2017
by David Fletcher

Was solid in the early exchanges but bit by bit lost his composure at the back. Was at fault in the first goal playing Daniel Sturridge onside and was replaced early on in the second half, although partly due to the fact that Slaven Bili? was looking for some attacking flair in the side.

1-0 v Tottenham Hotspur (h) 5th May 2017
by Gordon Thrower

Continues to look much better as part of a three.
