2008/09 Match Notes & Ratings

0-1 v Chelsea (h) 25th April 2009
by Gordon Thrower

(Replaced Boa Morte, 72 mins) Like Sears, failed to make an impression.

0-0 v West Bromwich Albion (h) 16th March 2009
by Gordon Thrower

His mind seemed to be on making an impression rather than the game in hand.

0-0 v West Bromwich Albion (h) 16th March 2009
by John Simkin

He was clearly nervous but even making allowances for this there was little evidence that this was a future Premier League star.

1-0 v Manchester City (h) 21st February 2009
by Gordon Thrower

(Replaced Behrami, 43 mins) Looked full of pace and was a major contributor to the goal.

1-2 v Bolton Wanderers (a) 21st February 2009
by John Simkin

(Replaced Collison, 62 mins) Couple of nice touches but it is not easy to come on and make an impact. Would like to see what he can do when he starts a game.

1-1 v Middlesbrough (h) 14th February 2009
by John Simkin

(Replaced Noble, 74 mins) Despite the injury to Behrami he was left on the bench. He was also ignored when Cole had to come off and he was only given the last 16 minutes to show what he could do. A good dead ball kicker, his corners were a marked improvement on those provided by Noble. Provided the cross for Illunga’s equalizing goal.

1-1 v Middlesbrough (h) 14th February 2009
by East Stand Martin

(Replaced Noble, 74 mins) Looked quite useful on the ball and gave us an option of running at players that had been lacking until he replaced Noble. Maybe worth a start soon?

0-1 v Manchester United (h) 8th February 2009
by Gordon Thrower

(Replaced Noble, 77 mins) Tried a few things but few came off.

0-0 v Arsenal (a) 31st January 2009
by East Stand Martin

(Replaced Noble, 70 mins) A fairly impressive 20 minutes for the lad. Only little but he’s not afraid to get stuck in and he seems to have a decent turn of pace too.
