Holmar Orn Eyjolfsson became the first young starlet to arrive at the club following Gianluca Nani's appointment.

The Italian, briefed with bringing the best young European talent to the Boleyn couldn't take too much credit for the Icelandic centre-half as he had been watched by the club for over a year, but the signing heralded the start of a potentially fruitful new era for the club.

Eyjolfsson had been courted by a number of top European clubs prior to his arrival in East London and his capture was regarded as something of a coup for United.

Still only 17, Eyjolfsson recently spoke of his desire to break through to the first team as soon as possible.
