Bookies have stopped taking bets on Reading boss Alan Pardew becoming the 10th manager of West Ham United, after rumours emerged this afternoon that he had been offered the vacant post.
Several sources have claimed that Pardew was informed this morning (Thursday) he had won the race to succeed Glenn Roeder as Hammers boss - with a formal announcement from West Ham expected imminently.
As yet there has been no word from either club to either confirm or deny the rumour - although Reading supremo John Madejski told yesterday how his club were confident of retaining the services of Pardew, suggesting that a move may have been on the cards.
