On-loan defender Robbie Stockdale has been sent back to Middlesbrough just two weeks into a months loan spell after suffering a hamstring injury in the 1-0 defeat at Tottenham last week.
23-year-old Stockdale - who only arrived in East London on October 23rd - has been sent packing after sustaining the injury which is set to keep him out of action beyond the length of his current loan spell.
The news will be a huge blow to the young full back who said only last week that he would have liked the opportunity to stay at West Ham beyond the one month loan spell agreed between the two clubs.
"It has come to a stage in my career when I want to play football - and I am grateful to West Ham for giving me the opportunity to come here," he had said ahead of the Tottenham game last week.
"I have got to make the most of my time at West Ham - and hopefully earn myself a proper move."
Unfortunately the only move available for Stockdale now is back up the A1 to Middlesbrough - whilst Hammers boss Alan Pardew is left searching for another right-back to take his place.
