Hands off Hedman

Celtic boss Martin O'Neill has issued a hands off warning to West Ham after they made an official enquiry over Swedish goalkeeper Magnus Hedman.

KUMB reported earlier in the week how Pardew saw the former Coventry stopper as a possible transfer target - and earlier today Celtic boss O'Neill confirmed that he had been approached by the Hammers.

But the Irish manager confirmed that he is unwilling to part with the Swedish keeper, despite Hedman being very much second choice at Celtic Park this season.

Speaking this afternoon, O'Neill told reporters:

"Yes, we've had an enquiry from West Ham - but we didn't take it any further.

"I don't think we are in the position of letting players go. We have a big season ahead."

Hedman moved to Celtic just over 18 months ago in a £1.5m switch from Coventry, and is thought to be interested in a move to East London.

However with O'Neill's clear rebuttal the chances of that happening now would appear to be unlikely.

Meanwhile, Yeovil trialist goalkeeper Chris Weale - who kept a clean sheet in Wednesday night's 2-0 win over Arsenal reserves - will have to wait before learning whether or not he has done enough to earn a move to West Ham.

Alan Pardew confirming earlier today:

"Chris' didn't really have a lot to do [against Arsenal] although he made one fantastic save - and a clean sheet is a clean sheet at any level of football.

"We will see how that one progresses."
