West Ham United 2 Tottenham 0

The Hammers completed back to back for the first time since last October with a stirling performance against local rivals Tottenham at the Boleyn Ground this afternoon.

And star of the show - naturally - was former Spurs player Les Ferdinand, who moved to the Hammers from their local rivals only last month.

Despite sustaining a damaged eye socket in a 14th minute challenge with Dean Richards the striker refused to be substituted and led from the front as a rejuvenated Hammers side proved too strong for their desperately under-par opponents.

Ferdinand was rewarded with a part in both goals; the first coming four minutes from half-time, when a powerful drive by Ferdinand from the edge of the box proved too much for Kasey Keller, who allowed the ball to slip through his grasp.

And the 35-year-old target man was heavily involved in the second, which was despatched by Michael Carrick following a melee involving Ferdinand.

The win drew West Ham level on points with Bolton, although Sam Allardyce's side have a game in hand.
