Michael Carrick was a noteable absentee today from the squad that made the journey to the Midlands for the opening game of the season at Leicester City tomorrow.
It would appear that the young Geordie has made his last appearance for the club after a week that has seen him likned with Arsenal, Everton and Portsmouth.The injured Steve Lomas is also absent from the squad, although both Matty Etherington (ingrowing toenail) and Bobby Zamora (knee) have recovered sufficiently from recent injuries to make the trip. New signing Luke Chadwick is also included in the 18-man party.
