Five West Ham fans charged following disturbances at the Millwall v West Ham clash last season have escaped jail.

The five supporters have been given banning orders preventing them from from following West Ham for five years after they were prosecuted following disturbances at the match.

A police spokesman said:

"We are pleased these individuals have each received banning orders to prevent them causing trouble at future football matches.

"The banning orders prevent the men from going within two miles of Upton Park and from visiting towns where away matches are held for hours before, during and after the matches."
