More worry for Pardew

Nigel Reo-Coker was pulled out of England's under-21 clash with Austria tonight - giving Alan Pardew more cause for concern.

Hammers midfielder Reo-Coker declared himself unfit to play earlier today after suffering an ankle injury.

But the good news is that the knock is not thought to be serious, and Reo-Coker is expected to be back in contention for next Tuesday's meeting with Poland.

Slightly more worrying news comes from Israel however where Yossi Benayoun has revealed how he is set to play for his country against the Faroe Islands this weekend despite suffering from a cracked rib.

The 25-year-old playmaker is thought to have sustained the injury last weekend in the 1-1 draw at Sunderland.

Benayoun sat out two days of training earlier this week but was back on his feet by Thursday and looks set to start for Israel tomorrow - albeit with the aid of a pain-killing injection.

News of the problems for Reo-Coker and Benayoun follows yesterday's announcement regarding the thumb injury sustained by goalkeeper Roy Carroll, who could be out of action for up to a month.
