Bobby Zamora has been rewarded for his excellent recent form with a new long term contract.

The 25-year-old former Brighton and Spurs man has put pen to paper on a new deal that ties him to West Ham until 2010.

Zamora joined the Hammers - the club he has supported since childhood - in February 2004 in part-exchange for Jermain Defoe, who went the other way to Tottenham.

Despite suffering a nervous first season he has improved steadily and has hit eight goals this season from just 20 appearances.

Alan Pardew, speaking on the club's website at whufc.com confirmed the news this morning:

"It's fantastic news that Bobby has signed a new contract," he said. "I'm delighted that we have yet another of our young players committed for the long-term future.

"Bobby has made brilliant progress in the past 12 months and I'm very pleased with his contribution this season.

"He is a local boy who loves the club, and I hope he will go on to enjoy a lot of success with us in the years to come."

News of the deal puts to bed rumours of Zamora being involved in a part-exchange deal for Norwich's Dean Ashton.
