Soma finds the going tough

Filed: Wednesday, 1st November 2000

Highly rated Norwegian trialist Ragnvald Soma, who is spending a week with the club has admitted that he is finding the training hard.

Soma said earlier: "It was hard, harder than I expected. I am not sure whether this is the usual amount of training. Anyway, the reserves have a lot harder training sessions than the first team right now."

21-year-old Soma had been watched by a string of clubs from across Europe, and is currently rated as one of Norway's hottest young properties.

He will be at Upton Park until the weekend - by which time he may have two games under his belt.

"On Wednesday I will probably play for the reserves against Wimbledon," he said. "But is has been raining a lot and all the grounds are under water at the moment. If the game is cancelled, I will play in an internal game on Thursday."
