West Ham will play either Charlton or Middlesbrough in the semi-finals of the FA Cup.

The Hammers got the draw they wanted, avoiding the two remaining big guns - Liverpool and favourites Chelsea - in the process.

Drawing the balls at Soho Square was Geoff Thomas - a team-mate of Alan Pardew's when Crystal Palace beat Liverpool 4-3 in the 1990 semi-final. Thomas did his former colleague a huge favour by giving West Ham the best possible chance of making May's Final.

The ties will be played on the weekend of April 22/23; the venues are expected to be announced soon.

The Middlesbrough v Charlton quarter final replay is scheduled for April 12th.
