Paul Aldridge has been taking about the possibility of signing Fulham's Steed Malbranque.

Aldridge - in Monaco today as part of the West Ham delegation that attended the UEFA Cup First Round draw this lunchtime - revealed that negotiations were ongoing and that he expects talks to continue.

"Malbranque is obviously one of the people Alan has targeted," he said. "I would hope we will soon have positive discussions with Fulham.

"We would like to bring in one, possibly two more faces, and we will work hard between now and the end of the month to do that."

On the UEFA Cup, in which West Ham have drawn Italian outfit Palermo, he added:

"We're excited, shown by the fact we have already sold 16,000 tickets for the first game, and that was before today and knowing who we would be playing."

"There's a great appetite for UEFA Cup football, that's for sure."
