Peter Grant has left his post as assistant manager of West Ham United to become the new boss at Norwich City.

The popular Scot has departed East London in order to take over from Nigel Worthington in the Carrow Road hotseat following a week of speculation.

41-year-old Grant arrived at West Ham in January 2004 and was a hugely popular figure amongst both players and supporters.

The former Scottish international previously spent two years with Norwich as a player between 1997 and 1999.

Talking to Norwich's club website tonight, Grant said:

"I'm absolutely delighted at the opportunity to manage a club like Norwich. I can't wait to get started.

"I'm raring to go and looking forward to getting stuck into the challenge of getting the Club back up the table and challenging for promotion."

The immediate favourite to succeed Grant in his West Ham role is current senior coach Keith Peacock, who arrived at West Ham in July after 35 years as player and coach with Charlton.

KUMB's best wishes go to Peter in his new post.
