Fans back Pardew

A snap poll on KUMB.com has revealed that four in five supporters are backing Alan Pardew - despite West Ham's disappointing start to the new season.

West Ham are without a win since the opening game of the new season, when they beat 10-man Charlton 3-1. Since that day Pardew's side have drawn two and lost seven of their nine subsequent fixtures - whilst failing to score a single goal in the last six-and-a-half matches.

As a result Pardew has been criticised by some sections of the media. However that criticism seems to have been ignored by the vast majoirty of Hammers fans who remain fully supportive of the former Reading manager who celebrated three years in charge of West Ham United last week.

80% of voters in the KUMB poll - taken following yesterday's 2-0 defeat at Portsmouth - backed Pardew, whilst just 14% agreed that a successor should be sought.

Speaking earlier today, Pardew confessed that his team's dreadful run of form had given him concerns over his own future.

"I think any manager who has lost six games has to have a certain amount of fear about his job - otherwise he would be silly," he said.

"The media attention will be very strong I'm sure leading up to our next game against Spurs. But you have to be big enough and strong enough to take it.

"I am, and I hope the players are. I try to be consistent whatever the results but six defeats in a row must be the worst run I've ever had and it is not acceptable.

"I've always thought of our players as strong characters and now it is up to them to go out and prove it."
