Carlos Tevez stormed out of The Boleyn Ground after being substituted midway through the second half of today's 1-0 win over Sheffield United, Alan Pardew has revealed.

Speaking in the post-match press conference, Pardew confirmed that Tevez - who had a solid game plus a hand in the winning goal - went directly to the changing rooms before leaving the ground prior to the end of the final whistle after being replaced by Marlon Harewood on 65 minutes.

Pardew later revealed that he made the substitution following the injury to Danny Gabbidon, leaving him with a shortage of tall players on the field with which to defend corners and free-kicks.

However he failed to inform Tevez of the reasons for his substitution due to the striker's hasty exit.

The decision to substitute Tevez was greeted by a chorus of boos by the home supporters, who had seen the little Argentinian enjoy his best performance for the club since moving from Corinthians in August.
