Alan Curbishley has decribed reports of a bust-up between him and goalkeeper Robert Green as 'totally untrue'.

England 'keeper Green has been left kicking his heels on the bench since the 6-0 defeat at Reading on New Years Day. Meanwhile his replacement - Roy Carroll - has made a series of blunders which led to supporters chanting for Green during Tuesday's 2-1 home defeat against Liverpool.

It had been reported that Curbishley fell out with Green after informing him that he would be left out of the side following the Reading thrashing. However Curbishley said last night that there was no truth in the rumours.

"I've spoken to Robert this week because there were reports of a bust-up - which is totally untrue," he told the Sun.

"I came here with no agenda or favouritism and I kept Roy in. He did well against Fulham and Newcastle but obviously was at fault for the Watford goal in the FA Cup.

"Everyone's under scrutiny but particularly in goal. Now there is competition in that role. The fans have had a pop at Roy and everyone knows that - you can't play here and not hear it."

Curbishley is becoming used to having his selections questioned by the Boleyn crowd; over Christmas his decision to leave Carlos Tevez on the bench was also mocked by supporters.
