A year ago today the world of football was mourning the loss of Ron Greenwood MBE, West Ham United's most successful manager.
Greenwood - who led United to European Cup WInners Cup and FA Cup success within 12 months of each other - passed away on 9 February 2006 aged 84, following a long illness.After beginning his career with Arsenal, Greenwood was appointed United boss in 1961 - a position he held for 13 years before passing the managerial reigns to John Lyall, who also died last year.
