Tyrone Mears has signed for Derby County in a £1million switch.
The former Preston full-back signed for the Hammers last summer in a deal worth up to £1.9million but failed to make an impact on the first-team.He was loaned out to the Rams in January and played a vital part in their push for the Premier League, which culminated in play-off success against West Bromwich Albion.
That move was made permanent today when Derby announced they had paid £1million for his services.
Derby boss Billy Davies said:
"We are delighted to complete this deal because Tye is a very good young full back with excellent pace and potential.
"We need him for the challenge ahead - and I know he is committed to working hard with us because he has the exciting potential to improve still further."
