Birmingham manager Steve Bruce has denied making a bid for United's Marlon Harewood.
Several of today's newspapers carried a story suggesting that the former Nottingham Forest striker was on his way to newly-promoted Birmingham in a £3.5m switch, having been told that his days at Upton Park are numbered. But that was news to Bruce, who told SkySports this morning:
"We did make an enquiry about Marlon Harewood earlier in the summer but that is as far as it went.
"There was no bid - and it is not true that he is coming now."
Harewood - who joined the Hammers three years ago in a £500,000 deal - has also been linked with a move to Wigan, although the club are understandably reluctant to do business with the Latics given their position over the Carlos Tevez affair.
