French national boss Raymond Domenech has called Julien Faubert 'stupid' for opting to move to West Ham United.

The outspoken 55-year-old French manager told le-mercato.com that Faubert's decision to join the Hammers in a £6.1m switch was 'unrivalled stupidity'.

"When certain players call me to talk about me their transfer I tell them it's okay to play for one of the top four clubs in England, Germany, Italy or Spain," he said.

"But this is stupidity. What a pity when he is on the verge of the French team. I have trouble understanding it."

Faubert - who has made just one start for the French national side - impressed in his first outing for the Hammers at the weekend when he played 45 minutes of United's 2-0 win at Dagenham & Redbridge, and is set to start again in Austria tomorrow night when the Hammers take on Sigma.
