Aston Villa have confirmed the arrival of former Hammer Marlon Harewood in a deal worth around £4.5m.
Martin O'Neill confirmed that a deal had been struck this lunchtime when he told avfc.co.uk:"I'm delighted to have him. He's a strong lad, very athletic and if he can recapture the form he showed in the two seasons before last, he will definitely be a big asset.
"There were other teams wanting to take him, but he's prepared to come here and challenge to try and work his way into the first team. He's a confident lad who's willing to fight for his place."
Harewood joined the Hammers in 2004 in a £500,000 switch from Nottingham Forest. He will rejoin another former Hammer - Nigel Reo-Coker - at Villa Park following the England under-21 captain's £8.5m move earlier this month.
