Sheffield United are to sue West Ham for the cost of their relegation from the Premier League.

The Blades, who estimate the cost of relegation at between £30-60m announced the news this morning.

Blades Chairman Kevin McCabe has spent millions this summer attempting to blame the Hammers for their relegation last season.

* Reports that writs are also set to be served on David Unsworth - the former Blades full-back who scored an own goal on the final day of the season - and Wigan - who had the audacity to beat the Blades in the same game - are yet to be confirmed ...

''I fail to understand the tactics behind this move. He understands he will not succeed and that Prem will not pay anything, in fact he may end up with Hammers legal bill - so I fail to see what his end game is ... ''

''I actually thought this 'article' was a wind up til I saw tonights ITV news headlines, it's on the later news tonight. Does this bloke McCabe have any idea of the real world? I'll bet his high-priced lawyers must love him ... what a pillock ...''

''McCabe is a twat. I have sympathy for the SU supporters who have always seamed a half-decent bunch considering they are near Leeds and they don't deserve the ignominy that this idiot is causing.

This case has no merit and is bound to fail, I supose he will then try to sue the lawyers who have advised him. I just hope he doesnt drive SU the same way as Bates took Leeds but I think he might.

By the way, can someone send a copy of Warnock's CV to Tottenham, that is a marriage made in heaven. I cant think a couple who deserve each other more ...''

''Surely sueing the wrong area. WH did not decide the £5.5m fine. The points were decided on the pitch. Sheffield were not good enough to stay; they couldn't even beat Wigan in their last game. A waste of theirs and our money - all of which goes to the lawers.''
