Local radio in Derby is reporting that West Ham United have agreed terms with the Rams for midfielder Giles Barnes.

The deal is said to be worth in the region of £7m.

''i hope we don't sell Giles, he is a cracking player and can change a match on his own as he did in the play-off final last year. £7million is a lot though and would go a long way, but I would not sell him in our first year back in the big time ...''

''Elysium: unfortunately Mr Nicholson's name was used in error, that has since been removed from the article. The comments were in fact made by a Daily Telegraph reporter (speaking on one of Derby's local radio stations last night).

Sadly the Derby Telegraph are now incorrectly reporting that KUMB has claimed Barnes has signed for West Ham - which was never the case, as you can see. We have since requested that they amend their article accordingly, as we have ours. Hope that clears it up!''

''Giles has so much potential. Although £7m is alot of money, I feel it will be a sound investment for the future.''

''Sadly the online version of the Derbyshire Evening Telegraph are saying that this is all lies and the reporter mentioned (a Mr Steve Nicholson) is denying he said anything about this story... which is a shame, this lad is very very talented and I personally would love him at the Boleyn, so who is lying? Surely no smoke with out fire?''

''I think he is a really good player ... the only problem - is a player with no top flight experience worth £7m? And Eggy and Curbs are saying we have not been paying over the odds!''
