Eggert Magnusson has warned Sheffield United that he is ready to counter any legal action that may be forthcoming.

Magnusson, speaking in today's match programme revealed that the Hammers were primed to hit back should Sheffield United continue with threats to sue West Ham following their relegation from the Premier League last season.

"I am extremely disappointed that Sheffield United refuse to move on and are constantly looking for someone to blame for their failure to retain their Premier League status last season," he said.

"However I will not allow Sheffield United's attacks on West Ham United to go unchallenged - and I will take whatever action is appropriate to defend the reputation of West Ham United Football Club including, if necessary, the commencement of our own legal claim against Sheffield United."

It was revealed last week that the FA are to ask a new arbitration panel to judge the case.
