It is being reported that a proposed deadline day deal to bring Giles Barnes to the club has fallen through.

Sky Sports news are quoting sources from Derby County categorically denying that Barnes will be sold before the transfer window closes at midnight.

Earlier reports suggested that United had put in a £5m bid for the midfielder that had been rejected by the Pride Park club, a move that has apparently angered management at the Boleyn who are said to be angry at being held to ransom over every proposed deal.

This comes a few weeks after Newcastle mysteriously raised the price of the unfortunate Kieron Dyer having previoulsy agreed a fee.

Meanwhile it has been reported that Nolberto Solano has had a medical but that the future of any deal to bring the Peruvian to E13 will depend on Newcastle being able to complete deals to bring players in.

More as and when anything happens....
