Curbs: no truth in Pako links

Filed: Friday, 9th November 2007

Alan Curbishley has rubbished reports suggesting that the Hammers are set to sign former Liverpool coach Pako Ayesteran as the club's new technical director.

Curbishley denied rumours that circulated earlier this week when he said last night:

"We've discussed the situation and we're coming up with a brief for what the job entails.

"But no-one has been in the frame, or even talked about. We're hoping to push on with a new stadium and training ground, and we need someone who can deal with it.

"We're not too far down the road yet but I will have a massive input. I know I will have complete control of first-team matters."
