The club have confirmed the capture of 17-year-old Austrian defender/midfielder Georg Grasser.

Austrian under-19 international Grasser will play for Tony Carr's youth team next season and becomes the latest foreign youngster to arrive at the club since Gianluca Nani's appointment earlier this year.

Formerly of GAK (Graz), Grasser was first linked with a move to the Hammers back in March. His former club have received a nominal fee (thought to be in the region of £100,000) but the deal also includes clauses for first team appearances and international call-ups.

Should Grasser not prove a success at West Ham the deal allows him to return to his former club at the end of his contract on a free transfer, according to reports. The youngster was also said to be interesting Udinese of Italy but opted to move to England instead.

* Grasser's former club GAK went into administration last season and will play in Austria's Regionalliga (third division) next season after being hit with a massive points deduction.
