Want to win an original West Ham United FC replica shirt? Read on ...

KUMB.com member Bobby Orangeboom has produced replicas of the first two kits that West Ham United FC ever wore - replica shirts that you won't find on sale anywhere else.

The two designs (see below) were the first two kits ever worn by the club between 1900-1903. Mr Orangeboom takes up the story:

On the left, the plain salmon kit, on the right the later hooped kit

"The plain salmon shirt was orginally worn in the 1900/01 season, the club's first as West Ham United. This shirt was worn for two seasons.

"The second shirt - salmon with a single black hoop - was worn for just one season, in 1902/03. The following season, West Ham United adopted the claret and blue design that stays with us to this day.

"I decided to reproduce these shirts back in September 2007 and a year on (sorry!) I have finally received delivery of them."

Much painstaking research was undertaken to ensure the authenticity of the shirt colours, which have been endorsed by leading local sporting historians.

"Many rumours surround the early history of West Ham United FC and especially our kits/shirts," adds Bobby. "I was both intrigued and sceptical at the suggestion that we wore these shirts, but after much research and contact with various historians, I was as sure as sure could be that both were indeed worn by West Ham United FC.

"Thanks to the help of the wonderful Spartacus website - fantastically put together by KUMB’s own John Simkin - I finally found some pictures of the teams from those years which confirmed the use of the shirts in question.

"So after a lot of effort (and a lot more time!), they’re finally here; I hope you like them."
