Former Hammers youth striker Gary Alexander accused the club of forcing him out as he finally completed his move to Swindon Town yesterday.

Alexander completed his transfer to the Wiltshire club yesterday in a deal which will eventually net the Hammers £300,000.

However, the 20 year old striker couldn't resist blasting his former club for not giving him the opportunity to impress himself upon the first team.

"I am really pleased about joining Swindon" he said. "I had been at West Ham for five years and I just had to get away. There was no way I wanted to sit back in the reserves."

Alexander, who spent last season on loan at third division Exeter City, scoring 19 goals in a spell which saw him voted player of the season, also hit out at the number of foreign players at the club.

"There was little chance of first team football because of all the foreign talent around" he blasted. "I just wanted to play at the top."
