Paolo Di Canio was star of the show tonight as the Hammers continued their good run of pre-season form with yet another victory, this time over conference outfit Rushden & Diamonds.
The maestro struck three times to record his first hat-trick of the season as the Hammers completed a 4-2 win against a determined Rushden side.New boy Davor Suker gave the Hammers the lead after just seven minutes, with Di Canio doubling the advantage on the half hour mark.
2-0 up at the break and the Hammers looked like like coasting the second - but the home side had different ideas. Two goals inside fifteen second half minutes (from Brady and Warburton) levelled the scores, before Di Canio took over to complete his hat-trick with a penalty on 74 minutes and a fine effort with eight minutes left on the clock.
