Agent on impasse

Lucas Neill's agent has revealed why his client has rejected West Ham United's fresh contract offer.

The former Millwall and Blackburn full-back is out of contract this month having spent the last two-and-a-half years in East London. Agent Darren Jackson, speaking on behalf of the current Hammers club captain told the Mail:

"The last offer was declined because Lucas didn't feel it reflected his value as a player and captain. [But] negotiations have been amicable and we hope we can still reach an agreement.

"The door remains open for West Ham and Lucas. Obviously the longer it goes on, the more likely it's not going to happen.

"There has been other interest from clubs in England and in Europe but it's still very early stages. Lucas is hopeful something can be agreed with West Ham."

''i hope he doesnt sign a new deal, he has been average at best this season. He's slow, can't pass and gets caught out of position all the time! Get rid and spend the wages on a younger, better player. ''

''Time for him to go, simple as that.''

''I don't think Neill realises he's not worth the wages we're paying for him and shouldn't be getting paid a ridiculous amount of money. Whereas Green, who is by far one of our best players and has saved us numerous amount of times should be getting a salary packet like Neill has been earning all along.

Of course I'll be sad to see Lucas go but will be happy if we can get a decent right-back with the money we're gonna save on his wages. ''

''Bless him, he cannot survive on a measly (reported) 35,000 per week. Does he live in the real (credit crunch) world? why does he need so much money? he has been coining it in for 2.5 years.

If he loves WH so much then should be prepared not to be so greedy. IMHO i think he only started playing better towards the end of the season when he was playing for a new contract. But that is just my opinion, comments invited.''
