Calum Davenport has denied assaulting his sister at Luton Crown Court.
The central defender was charged today following a domestic incident involving the former Tottenham defender's sister Cara and boyfriend Worrell Whitehurst, from which Calum received what were considered at the time to be life-threatening wounds. He pleaded not guilty.
Following the 27-year-old defender's release from hospital last August he was hit with the assault charges, which, according to the weekend's press, have led to Davenport's wages being suspended for the duration of the case by the club's new owners.
The former England under 21 was bailed until August 2nd when he will stand trial; one condition of the bail is that he makes no further contact with his sister.
Whitehurst pleaded guilty to causing grievous bodily harm last November and is set to be sentenced upon conclusion of Davenport's case.
