Zavon Hines is likely to be out of action for the rest of the year after suffering a setback in his rehabilitation.
The young striker, who impressed so much at the beginning of last season has been sidelined since December 2009 when he underwent surgery to cure a longstanding knee problem.
He was initially expected back at the beginning of the current season - however KUMB.com has learnt that the England under 21 striker is unlikely to play again until 2011.
21-year-old Hines made his first team debut in West Ham's 4-1 Carling Cup second round win over Macclesfield in August 2008 during Alan Curbishley's tenure, scoring the third of United's goals on the day.
However it was to be another year before he made his Premier League debut, when he replaced Scott Parker five minutes from the end of West Ham's 2-1 home defeat to Tottenham in August 2009.
From that moment he became a permanent fixture in Gianfranco Zola's first team squad, making 15 appearances - including a notable performance against Liverpool in which he constantly teased veteran Jamie Carragher - before succumbing to the injury which will almost certainly keep him out of action until next year.
