Hammers target Eric Mouloungui has revealed that he would prefer to stay in France.

The Nice midfielder/striker, who hit eight goals for the club last term was thought to be on his way to east London this week in a permanent deal worth around £2million.

However the player - who is out of contract next summer - told his current club's website this morning that he was disappointed to have been linked with a move away from the Stade Municipal du Ray, where he has spent the last three seasons.

"I do not want to leave," he told Nice's website. "But it is true that staying in my situation is complicated.

"I talked with the President, we want to find the best solution for the team and me. In football, everything is fast but today I am 100 per cent Nice.

"I am here, I get along with the staff. I have earned the confidence in recent months. Now I have to be effective. If I had been [effective] enough in the first three games, we would have more points today."

Meanwhile another potential transfer target, MK Dons striker Sam Baldock, insists that he has heard nothing from West Ham with regards to a potential move.

"It's all rumours as far as I'm concerned. I'm not going to let anything affect me," he told BBC Three Counties Radio.

"I think West Ham are a fantastic club and [Sam Allardyce] is a phenomenal manager but it's not anything I've thought about and it's not something that's been mentioned to me."
