Ilunga linked with capital switch

Herita Ilunga is being linked with a move to Queens Park Rangers.

As if the Premier League new boys haven't done West Ham enough favours already this season by taking perma-crocks Kieron Dyer and Danny Gabbidon, a report in today's Times suggests Rangers are set to launch a bid for Ilunga, a player heavily criticised by United supporters already this season.

The Congolese defender, who was voted as runner-up Best Signing in 2009 by KUMB.com readers missed the second half of the 2010/11 campaign having failed to make Avram Grant's 25-man first team squad.

And despite having impressed Sam Allardyce enough to win his place back this term, the 29-year-old is set to be dumped once again after a poor start to the new season in which he has looked decidedly unfit in the latter stages of games.

Sam Allardyce was so impressed by Ilunga that less than 72 hours after his mistake cost West Ham a point against to Cardiff on the opening day of the campaign, he signed Suderland's Geroge McCartney on loan for the rest of the season.

With young full-back Jordan Brown also close to regaining full fitness after a month's absence, Ilunga's position is adequately covered should Allardyce decide to cash in.
