The Daily Mail have claimed that Wolverhampton Wanderers have signed West Ham striker Freddie Piquionne on a free transfer.
The once-capped French international has endured a dreadful season in the Championship so far, having managed to score just two goals in 20 appearances.
With Hammers fans having lost their patience with a player signed by Avram Grant in 2010, Sam Allardyce recently followed suit when he dropped Piquionne having expressed his dissatisfaction at the former Portsmouth striker's performances this season.
As reported here on KUMB.com yesterday interest had been shown in the 33-year-old, who has been told that he is surplus to requirements, earlier this week.
Wolves - who were one of the teams that beat West Ham to safety last season - are desperate to improve their firepower having sunk to 16th place in the Premier League, just one point above the drop zone.
Just why Wolves manager Mick McCarthy would see the inept Piquionne (who has never scored more than once during a match for West Ham and has a strike rate of one in six) as the answer to his prayers is anyone's guess - although of course this remains unconfirmed at this point.

''He must be the only player that has scored a goal for West Ham and got sent off as a direct result (Everton away), absolutely farcical/ridiculous. One for John Northcutt! The players these days just move around for one final pay day, no doubt his agent has sent McCarthy 10-year-old videos of the player in his prime!''
