Austrian date announced

West Ham United are off to Austria for a second time in three years as part of a pre-season training exercise.

Two years ago the freshly-installed Avram Grant took his new squad to central Europe where they faced Borussia Monchengladbach, Wolfsburg and Greek champions Panathinaikos as part of their pre-season campaign.

This time Sam Allardyce's side will face Austria Wien during the trip which is set to take place at the beginning of July - unusually early for a pre-season campaign and the first of two planned for this summer.

The Austrian Football Bendesliga runners-up - who finished six points behind champions Red Bull Salzberg in the 2011/12 season campaign - have announced that they are to face West Ham on Saturday, 7th July at the Franz Horr Stadium.

With a ground capacity of just over 10,000 at the stadium, tickets are likely to be at a premium - should the public be allowed entrance; that remains to be confirmed. However with Die Veilchen only averaging around 5,000 for home games there should be plenty of spaces for travelling Hammers fans.

Sam Allardyce's side are set to arrive at their Bad Waltersdorf's headquarters on July 2nd, where they will remain for the next five days. The market town, a popular tourist destination plays host to a number of teams during the close season.

Three weeks later the Hammers are due to travel to Germany where they are set to face Rot-Weiss Erfurt and Dynamo Dresden.
