Video: Baldock's goal

Sam Baldock scored the opening goal in yesterday's 3-1 pre-season friendly defeat against Austria Wien.

The former MK Don striker was given a starting berth alongside Carlton Cole in the Franz Horr Stadium and repaid assistant manager Neil McDonald's faith by netting after just four minutes.

"I saw Coley made a great run and he got pretty much to the byline," he told whufc.com. "I thought I'd lose my marker by making a run to the back stick where he hung it up and to be honest it just hit me!

"It hit the defender and came off my shoulder, but it's a goal and strikers love goals don't they?

"It was a good end to the trip in a nice stadium with a good atmosphere and quite a few travelling fans, which was nice to see."

You may see Baldock's goal in the video clip below which was recorded from the opposite end of the stadium in the away supporters' enclosure, hence the low quality...

And you may see the last of Wien's three goals from Tomas Jun - in rather better quality - here...

With thanks to Ziga Kovac for providing the Baldock video.
