A late comeback earned West Ham a draw against third division side Energie Cottbus at the Stadion der Freundschaft this afternoon.

Trailing 2-0 at half time, United - playing the final fixture of their three-match German tour - earned a share of the spoils thanks to late goals from triallist Colin Kazim-Ricards and Sam Baldock.

Sam Allardyce's side, who were thrashed 3-0 by Dynamo Dresden just 48 hours earlier got off to the worst possible start by conceding a goal after just eight minutes.

Stephen Henderson, who is vying with fellow new signing Jussi Jaaskelainen for a spot in next season's first team made a complete hash of Daniel Adlung's shot and allowed the ball to squeeze past him into an empty net.

And there was worse to come for West Ham three minutes before the break when the dangerous Adlung grabbed his second of the afternoon by firing home from outside the penalty box.

Having made seven chages at the break - with Henderson replaced and triallists Bilel Mohsni and Michael Lamey added to the team, amongst others - West Ham looked a far better side and finally clawed a goal back with just 13 minutes of time remaining.

Colin Kazim-Richards, who had been with the Hammers for the past fortnight did his chances of earning a full-time contract no harm at all when he sent a looping volley into the far corner from the edge of the penalty area.

And just two minutes later Sam Baldock, prolific in pre-season despite being consistently linked with a move away from east London grabbed his fourth goal of pre-season when his looping header evaded the Cottbus 'keeper to level the scores.

The draw gave the Hammers a tour record of one win, one defeat and one draw. Big Sam's team now have just two pre-season fixtures remaining - away to Ipswich and Portuguese side Braga - before the 2012/13 Premier League season kicks off.

''Our last two games have exposed our ares of massive weakness if we are to avoid the drop next season. The defence and attack need overhauling with due respect to players there already. We cannot afford to wait till January window when it might be too late.

Gold and Sullivan should try and get the cash needed to strengthen the team NOW. Hammers must lift a major trophy next season and settle for at least a mid-table position. It is about tme we got the likes of Andy Carrol to let the world know that we have truly arrived!''
