Liverpool supporters have their say on yesterday's Premier League clash at the Boleyn - a game that many felt was slipping away until fate intervened to hand them the initiative..

"I thought we were very good for the first 15 minutes and thought we were very good for the last 15 after Diame went off but we were outfought, out-muscled and out-battled in the middle of the park for an hour. We simply couldn't get to grips with Diame and Cole, they were too quick and far too powerful for us which is a worry. Yesterday we were crying out for someone who could stem the tide and compete in midfield. Add in a physical presence upfront and we will be much better equipped to compete with the likes of West Ham, Stoke, Sunderland and Everton."

"To come back and grind out a win, in the face of some pathetically weak refereeing and an all out physical assault from the opposition, feels like a real turning point. Always had a lot of time for West Ham but I absolutely despise Allardyce. Loved seeing his miserable chops at the final whistle. As for the game, it was a tale of two substitutions. After a quality start the tide seemed to swing completely in their favour once Enrique went off and Downing went into the back four, then swung back in our favour once Diame went off. Some player, him."

"I don't think anyone would argue that West Ham weren't the better side for the majority of the game. We were poor. Leading up to Cole's goal we were on the rails and I thought a West Ham goal was imminent. Gerrard was back to his wasteful longball ways. Allen was alright, Lucas good. Was the best 'feeling' win for some time. Played sh*te and came from behind to win. Now I know what it's like to be a Manchester United fan every week!"

"Delighted with the win, it was a massive fixture for us and to get three points away from home was vital. Performance-wise, we were very scrappy at times and struggled to retain possession but people have to realise that is part and parcel of a Sam Allardyce match. His teams turn matches into a yard fight, their players press and do not give you time on the ball, and we were struggling with the physicality of the match. Certainly the substitution of Diame was a turning point, I was surprised Allardyce didn't bring on O'Neil instead of Tomkins."

"Was a very pleasing win, especially because my wife's family are all West Ham supporters. Another couple of atrocious refereeing decisions go against us. I'm surprised Joe Allen's arm stayed attached after the ball hit it, how that's a penalty I'll never know, same as how Jonjo didn't get one either. Just goes to show we don't have to have Suarez on the pitch to get shocking decisions against us."

"West Ham didn't deserve to lose. We weren't the 'oustanding' that Shelvey called the team. That said, we won. Only conceded through an own goal and a penalty. Had a stonewall penalty ourselves denied; would have loved Jonjo to have finished that, it was great turn and he danced with the ball for about five seconds before being fouled. Felt like the Diame injury didn't help West Ham at all. He and Jarvis were awesome today for them."

"A tale of two injuries really. We looked like we were set up really nicely to control the game until Enrique came off. And then when we were looking like we would wither away, Diame went off for them and we looked sharper. In fairness to the ref, their's was a penalty - Allen has raised his arm to the ball, but how on earth didn't we get one? I haven't been to the Boleyn for a while but not that impressed by their fans, used to be a cauldron now it's more like a fondue. Nice touch from Cole after the goal as well, he would have been desperate to celebrate."

"Huge psychological boost for the team. Thought the first 20 mins we were exceptional. Should have been 2-0 up when Sterling missed the target from Johnson's cut back. Then West Ham got into the game and put us under huge pressure. They were very fortunate to be up at half time. Penalty was really tough on us."

"Agger fouled (headlock) in the box, no pen. Jonjo, blatantly fouled in the box, no pen. No red card for Taylor's assault on Sterling. A dubious pen awarded to West Ham. The referee played six-and-a-half minutes of injury time (after five was put up on the board, god knows where the five came from to begin with). But no, we got 'lucky' today."

"Carlton Cole is certainly more of a goal threat than Andy Carroll. Carroll looks happy to have the ball punted up to him to win, and lay it off for a midfielder or get a flick on but when it comes to relying on him for goals he falls short. Cole could teach Carroll a thing or two about attacking a ball in the box. He's not clinical Cole, not by a long stretch, and he often has ineffective games, but he has qualities that Carroll doesn't. Cole was fantastic for them last season in the Championship - fought hard and chipped in with some important goals. Led the line very well. He is not as bad as some people like to believe."

"I'm pretty sure their penalty was the right decision. Sure it was blasted at Allen from a couple of yards away but his arm was well away from his body. It might be a natural position to balance given that he was turning with one leg in the air but nobody made him turn away. Shelvey being taken out and Taylor still being on the pitch after half time show how terrible some of the decisions were today. Not to mention all the crap made up fouls that Probert kept giving. Not the greatest performance but a brilliant result. Results are going to be hard to come by though given what the FA are trying to do to us."
