Diame bid wide of the mark

Reports that West Ham United have received a bid for midfielder Momo Diame have been denied by a Twitter account associated with the club.

Big spenders Queens Park Rangers were rumoured to have triggered the minimum fee release clause in Momo Diame's contract this evening. However that was instantly denied by the Twitter account belonging to Jack Sullivan, the son of West Ham's co-chairman David.

The 25-year-old's contract contains a 3.5million minimum fee release clause, which the struggling West London side were rumoured to have met with just a few hours of the transfer window remaining.

By triggering his release clause any club are welcome to speak to the Senegal international, who only last weekend rejected a new contract offer from West Ham.

Rangers, currently managed by former West Ham boss Harry Redknapp and owned by Tony Fernandes - whose earlier interest in purchasing West Ham has been ridiculed in the past by David Sullivan - have already spent big during the January window by landing Loic Remy and Chris Samba for a total of 20million.
