The opposition view... Aston Villa

Most visiting fans seemed content with a point on the road - if not so much the performance. Read on for the Villa fans' verdict of Saturday's goalless draw...

"Went down to this one as never been to Upton Park before. It's a bit of cliche really but I thought the home support was awful. A pocket of 'vociferous' fans either side of the away end who mostly seemed to want to taunt or barrack the away fans most of the match and not really back their own team. I always expect us to beat West Ham and usually disappointed when we don't. As they played with six in midfield perhaps the way the match panned out realistically is how you may expect it to have in reality. Guzan dealt very well with the endless crosses that were sent over to the're missing centre forward, Baker and Vlaar mopped up the rest competently. It has stopped the rot and another clean sheet and a point more than we got from there last year - it's two less on West Ham's tally too. On reflection not a bad result."

"Awful game, awful ground, awful performance. Only good thing was keeping a clean sheet. Only player that stood out for us was Vlaar. On a side note, as much as I hate him, I didn't think Downing looked too bad for them first half."

"A decent point away at a currently tough West Ham. Both sides similarly spectacularly average but West Ham seem to have spent more than us, so have a few more older journeymen. If you can't win a game, just make sure you don't lose it."

"Another frustrating performance. Yes, it's a point away from home and a clean sheet, but a fourth game now without scoring which is worrying. The second half was better, but the creativity isn't really there, which we could really do with when the counter attacking isn't working. West Ham's defence is strong, but I guess it just feels crap in the light of our past three results. Hope the Cardiff game will end our goal drought."

"A dour game between two poor teams. We might have nicked it if Tekker's header had been an inch lower or his shot right at the death hadn't been superbly saved, but we didn't really deserve to win. We really need to add creativity to this team because the lack of it is crippling us at the moment."

"We set up from the word go for a point away at a West Ham team that hasn't won at home in four games. I've vocally defended Lambert voraciously, but he's making it incredibly hard for me to do so. The massive apathy I feel towards this team matches how I felt under McLeish. I watched/went to games through habit, not because I wanted to or enjoyed it."

"I like the fact we have a clean sheet. But this is a West Ham team without a striker who had many chances to score while dominating. Only four teams have scored less than West Ham (with eight goals). Three of those eight goals came against Spurs - a fluky win IMO. If they hadn't scored those three goals at Spurs, they would have scored the least goals in the Premier League with five goals in 10 games. Hardly an achievement."

"Personally I'm happy with a point, just as I was against Hull. I don't understand why people think we should be winning these type of games. Are we really that much better than teams like West Ham and Newcastle that we should be going into the game expecting to win? I agree the performance was poor - and the fact that we haven't scored in four is slightly worrying - but two of the games were away."

"Did anyone go downstairs at half time? I went down after about 40 minutes with the idea of getting a pint to ease the boredom but as usual with the world's smallest concourse, it was pretty difficult to move. Then some idiot decided to let off a smoke bomb. It was carnage with people jumping around, the police and stewards wading in and kids choking to death on the smoke. How stupid do you have to be to do that in such a confined space? Needless to say the bar got closed and I never got my pint, but with all that smoke in my lungs I didn't feel the need to go into the toilets for a sly fag. We really do have some bellends in our support."

"If that game was still be played now it would still be 0-0..."
