A new waxworks model of Bobby Moore is to be unveiled in time for next summer's World Cup Finals.

A poll conducted by Madame Tussauds this week unsurprisingly resulted in a landslide victory for the former West Ham and England captain, who was competing in a web survey against other footballing luminaries such as Ronaldo, Diego Maradona, Pele and Franz Beckenbauer.

Nicole Fenner, PR Manager for Madame Tussauds said: "There are so many talented footballers who can be termed ‘World Cup Greats’, but we wanted the player we honour next year to be somebody chosen by the fans – and the response has been staggering.

"From day one Bobby Moore was way out in front and it’s clear fans have really taken this campaign to heart and voted in their thousands to secure his place in the attraction next year.

"With a place in the history books as the Captain of England’s only World Cup winning squad, Bobby Moore will make a wonderful addition to our sports area in World Cup year.

"Although we are an international attraction, our roots are firmly planted in London so it does seem fitting that a London boy who captained West Ham for ten years and led England to World Cup victory on their home turf has been selected to take up residence here in 2014."

Tussauds, who are now based in the former London Planetarium on the Marylebone Road will now decide exactly how to portray West Ham's most famous son.

According to the compnay's website, "The sculptors will be able to draw on archive materials including pictures and measurements gathered at a sitting with Moore in the 1970s when he was first featured in the attraction.

"Then work will begin in earnest to ensure the final figure is ready to be revealed to fans in May in the run up to the World Cup in Brazil next year."
