West Ham full back Danny Potts has joined Sky Bet League Two side Portsmouth on a month's loan.

19-year-old Potts, whose only appearance for West Ham's first team so far this season came in the 2-0 Capital One Cup win at Burnley last month agreed a move to the South Coast until 21st December yesterday.

Portsmouth, who are now managed by former striker Guy Whittingham are currently 16th in England's lowest fully professional tier. Their last three matches have all ended in defeat, with nine goals conceded during that period.

Potts told Portsmouth's website that he was excited about moving to Fratton Park. "I was told about Pompey’s interest yesterday [Monday], so I grabbed my gear and came straight down here," he said.

"Despite the division they now find themselves in they are still regarded as a massive club. The thought of playing at Fratton Park before the sort of crowds that come to Pompey is a really exciting prospect.

"I just want to play first team football. Hopefully I can benefit the team and help us get some good results."

Next up for Potts and Pompey - who also feature former Hammer Bondz N'Gala, now 24, amongst their ranks - are successive home games against fellow mid-table side Scunthorpe and promotion contenders Southend United.
