West Ham have been linked with a January move for former Blackburn centre half Christopher Samba.

The 29-year-old Russian-based defender, who is thought to be keen on a return to England is said to be interesting both West Ham and Newcastle ahead of the forthcoming transfer window which re-opens in less than five weeks.

Samba, who spent a miserable season back in London last year under Harry Redknapp at relegated Queens Park Rangers is currently contracted to Dynamo Moscow, who he joined from Anzhi Makhachkala at the start of the season.

However reports from Russia suggest the Congolese international is unhappy at Dynamo, for whom he has appeared just twice, and looking to make a return to the UK as soon as possible.
