Man City 6-0 West Ham Utd

West Ham are all but out of the Capital One Cup after serving up a second helping of tripe within the space of 72 hours.

Having faced ridicule as a result of being thrashed 5-0 by Championship side Nottingham Forest in the FA Cup last weekend the Hammers went one better tonight, conceding SIX against a rampant City side in an entirely one-sided affair that effectively ended the tie at the half-way stage.

A pathetic performance, in which West Ham's players looked almost star-struck, got off to a terrible start when Negredo opened the scoring after just 12 minutes - the first of three he would go on to register. Also on target for City were Toure and Dzeko with a brace, as West Ham's pitiful resistance crumbled.

Sam Allardyce, who once again faced a barrage of criticism from travelling Hammers fans failed to appear for interviews after the game but City boss Manuel Pellegrini was happy to speak to the press. "It was a brilliant performance," he purred. "Tonight was an important step but if we were able to score six goals, it was because of the way the team played."

We'll have a full match report for you shortly...
